Lisa Kay Howard
Host, Bluegrass Overnight
Lisa joined WAMU 88.5's Bluegrass Overnight on-air staff in December 2001. She loves being able to interact with WAMU 88.5's incredible audience, all knowledgable fans of the music she loves.
Lisa started out on the air in 1992, at Mary Washington College's radio station in Fredericksburg, Va.,where she shared a two-hour slot with a friend, spinning bluegrass tunes, alternating with her partner's alternative rock choices. She landed a weekly bluegrass slot on a commercial station in central Virginia in 1993, which she kept for ten years. During this time, she also worked for public radio on WTJU in Charlottesville, Va., always preferring the format of the public radio arena. Joining WAMU 88.5's Bluegrass Overnight cast was a real treat for her, kind of the Holy Grail of bluegrass radio.
Lisa lives in Warrenton, Va., works as an editor at Bluegrass Unlimited magazine, and plays mandolin with the band Flyin' Blind Bluegrass.
