WASHINGTON (AP) Eight people have been taken to the hospital after a van carrying special needs passengers crashed into the 3rd Street Tunnel. D.C. fire officials say the crash happened this afternoon in the tunnel's northbound lanes. One person from the van and one person from the vehicle it collided with were taken to a hospital in serious condition.

WASHINGTON (AP) U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan wants interim D.C. Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson to keep the job permanently. Mayor Vincent Gray and former Mayor Adrian Fenty chose Henderson to lead the system for the rest of the school year after Michelle Rhee's resignation.

WASHINGTON (AP) A freshman Georgetown University student was injured but conscious after falling from a fifth floor residence hall room window. D.C. police say the incident happened early this morning.
