Queen Anne's County Sheriff Gary Hofman makes his Valentine's Day pitch to spouses or significant others of wanted individuals.

The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's office in Maryland is going about finding wanted suspects in an unconventional way, with the Sheriff making a very special Valentine's Day offer via YouTube.

Sultry saxaphone music opens the video, as Sheriff Gary Hofman picks a candy out of an enormous box of chocolates.

"As many of you know, Valentine's Day is my most favorite holiday. This year as I prepare my Valentine's Day cards for my special "Most Wanted" valentines, I'm actually making a special offer," says Sheriff Gary Hofman in the video.

The offer is for the spouses or significant others of wanted individuals. Hofman is asking for information as to the whereabouts of some of the county's most wanted β€” in return for a Valentine's treat.

"The first tip that leads us to the arrest of our most wanted valentines, I will personally give you a dozen roses," Hofman says.

He then, with a flirty flair, in front of suspect photos framed by a rotating valentine's heart graphic, rattles off a list of folks his office is looking for, with details of their alleged crimes. Any information received will be kept confidential, Hofman says.

E-Cigarettes and Vaping

Last week, the D.C. Council voted to designate e-cigarettes and "similar vapor products containing nicotine" as tobacco products. That means that their sales tax will jump from the regular 5.75% sales tax to the 70% tax that's tacked onto sales of products like cigarettes and cigars. We explore what this means for the evolving public health debate surrounding e-cigarettes.
