Saturday is Constitution Day or Citizenship Day. Either way, Baltimore’s Maryland Institute College of Art is marking the occasion with a discussion of the boundaries of unrestricted speech in the 21st century. Advocates, experts and artists get together for Free Speech and the Digital Age.

(Sept. 15-Oct. 2) Lithuanian Trilogy Takes Flight
Arlington’s Artisphere debuts part one of the Lithuanian Trilogy today. Actor Paul Rajeckas traveled to Lithuania to trace his family’s roots. While there he discovered some conflicting history: His mother worked for the Gestapo while his grandmother helped rescue Jews during World War II. The poignant and funny plays based on his experience and discoveries are showing through early October.

E-Cigarettes and Vaping

Last week, the D.C. Council voted to designate e-cigarettes and "similar vapor products containing nicotine" as tobacco products. That means that their sales tax will jump from the regular 5.75% sales tax to the 70% tax that's tacked onto sales of products like cigarettes and cigars. We explore what this means for the evolving public health debate surrounding e-cigarettes.
