Former Senator and Presidential candidate Bob Dole writes about his service in World War II and how the life-threatening wounds he received on the battlefield changed his life.
Sen. Bob Dole, former Senator from Kansas, served in the Senate for 27 years and was Republican Leader for 12 years. He was the Republican nominee for President in 1996 and the vice presidential candidate in 1976. He is also the Chairman of the National World War II Memorial.
Author Andrew Carroll traveled to thirty-five countries on five continents in search of letters written to and by soldiers during times of war. He collected correspondence from the present conflict in Iraq to the American Revolution. The letters reveal the horror of war, as well as acts of heroism, patriotism, and even humor.
