The discovery of a valve fix averted the expected water shortage in parts of Prince George's County, and the leader of the WSSC defends his agency's delay in announcing the fix.

Hundreds of thousands of Prince George's County residents were happy to hear that an expected water outage wouldn't come to pass, but county leaders want to know more about what happened to a 54-inch water main.

Even though the water crisis in Prince George's County did not come to a head, officials at a local hospital say the facility is more than prepared.

The upscale National Harbor community was in the area affected by the expected water outage in Prince George's County, but now that the water is expected to continue flowing, businesses have to get back on track.

"We have averted a major disaster," says general manager of Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, announcing that water outages won't occur during repair on 54-inch water main.

A number of Prince George's County public schools are cancelling summer programs due to the ongoing water outage affecting a portion of the county.

Prince George's County residents will be able to collect water, shower and cool off at a number of locations today and throughout the water outage that set's to affect southern and western portions of the county.

As 100,000 residents of Prince George's County go without water due to repairs on a 54-inch water main, officials are questioning the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
