The Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association (NVFAA) will host an art demonstration and hands-on workshop for children Saturday, Dec. 15.

On December 1st (World AIDS Day), Global Camps Africa presents Global Campfire 2012. The event will feature music, marshmallow roasting and camp games.  The campfire will take place at the Reston Association Fire Ring from 4:00 - 6:00 PM and will be open to the public.

Fairfax County needs a pianist to play during sing-alongs with participants at the Herndon Harbor Adult Day Health Care, 875 Grace Street, Herndon, once a month for a few hours. The county is also seeking lunch assistants for the facility.

Virginia Cooperative Extension, with the support of Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia, is offering a free workshop on gardening in containers Saturday, April 7 in Arlington and Saturday, April 14 in Alexandria.

Dr. Carrol Peterson, Emeritus Professor of English at Doane College in Nebraska, will present a Living History Program, "Walt Whitman and the Civil War," at 4 p.m.  March 24 at the Athenaeum in Alexandria.
